Businesses using hydrogen energy

Conventionally, hydrogen has been mostly utilized in industrial applications, such as a petroleum refining, oil hardening, and furnace atmosphere heat treating. However, the momentum behind clean hydrogen as energy source is strong domestically and internationally, for it does not produce carbon dioxide (CO2) when burned.
The development of products using fuel cell technology, such as stationary fuel cells and fuel cell vehicles, is leading the way in the use of hydrogen energy. The usage has been expanding to commercial vehicles and cargo handling equipment.
In addition, development of combustion equipment and heating equipment that directly burn hydrogen is in progress. The technology is expected to propel achievement of carbon neutrality in factories and large-scale power plants that consumes large amount of heat.
In this report, we analyzed the trends of hydrogen energy utilization in Japan, and forecasted the market size of devices and systems using hydrogen technology, such as fuel cells and combustion equipment, for FY2025 and beyond.
