Recently, in addition to enhancement of the camera functions, how good the smartphone looks in designs has become important in developing smartphone terminals. The recent trends of each smartphone maker are the bezel-less or full-screen designs as well as new development of foldable smartphones which increased the demand for flexible OLED panels because they enable the smartphones to bend.
The demand of AMOLED displays for smartphones is projected to rise, as they are increasingly used for flexible OLED displays in bezel-less or full-screen terminals and for foldable smartphones, in addition to rigid OLED displays for mid-end smartphones. Display makers including Samsung Display Co., Ltd., LG Display Co., Ltd., and BOE Technology Group have determined to fully produce flexible OLED displays since 2019.
Furthermore, the demand of AMOLED displays for OLED-TVs has expanded, in addition to LG Display Co., Ltd having augmented the abilities of the displays, while Samsung Display Co., Ltd trying to enter the market of large AMOLED displays and continue developing QD-OLED for TVs.
