There has been a new quantum technology developed, that enables three-dimensional measurement of nano-scale biomolecular spinning movement within a living cell, by using NV (Nitrogen-Vacancy) center of a nanometer-size diamond.
In fact, bio nano quantum sensors have succeeded in measuring biomolecular rotation movements that do not associate with positional changes, such as the spinning caused at the time when adenosine triphosphatase (ATPase) synthesizes adenosine triphosphates (ATP), and the changes in movements caused by an anticancer agent combining with targeted cancer cell surface.
As a world’s smallest three-dimensional rotation sensor, such bio nano quantum sensors are expected to be utilized for extensive applications as a new measurement tool for life science, including new drug studies and stem cells monitoring for regenerative medicine.
Quantum technologies are attracting attentions from diverse fields, with the budgets for research and development in each country incrementing. Although new entries by new relevant players and their social demonstrative cases continue, it is necessary to achieve step-ahead results in order to generate true values.
As quantum technologies are likely to be the continuous events in diverse industrial fields, the global market size of technologies and services related to quantum technologies (7 categories) is projected to attain 70,364,000 million yen by 2050.
