Housing/Residential Construction Companies in Japan: Key Research Findings 2021
COVID-19 Caused Housing/Residential Construction Companies to Disperse Business Risks
Yano Research Institute (the President, Takashi Mizukoshi) carried out a survey on the domestic housing/residential construction market and found out the current status, the trends of market players, and the future perspectives.
Summary of Research Findings
The business models of housing/residential construction companies conventionally were dependent on the market of new detached houses. Such business models, however, had limits, which became obvious by the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to its conventional issue of decreasing number of constructions of new detached houses. Hereafter, the companies are required to promote their growth by dispersing such a concentrated risk in the domestic market to non-residential constructions, real estates and building reforms or by enhancing overseas new building construction business.
