Knowledge Management at Non-IT Companies in Japan: Current Practices and Solutions
– Moving Beyond a Situation Where Existing In-House Knowledge Remains Unused
Thursday, November 26, 2026 | 4:00 PM–5:00 PM JST | Online

[Seminar Overview]
- 4:00 PM – 4:50 PM
The knowledge and expertise accumulated over a company’s history should be a major organizational asset. Yet research has found that the vast majority of non-IT companies in Japan face challenges arising from information being scattered across emails, chats, file servers, and other locations. Employees cannot find the information they need, cannot tell whether the information they find is accurate, or cannot get work done without asking a particular person. In practice, the knowledge and expertise that should have accumulated within these organizations are not being put to use in their day-to-day operations.
Even as the use of generative AI grows, its benefits remain limited unless the underlying internal information is properly organized.
Drawing on data from a large-scale independent survey conducted by Stock, Inc. among large and mid-sized non-IT companies, this seminar will examine the current state of knowledge management at non-IT companies in Japan and explore why they struggle to put their knowledge to use in everyday work.
The seminar will then present a simple yet powerful solution for substantially improving how organizations use their knowledge. It will also show the actual interface of "Narekan", an AI-powered knowledge management tool that puts this solution into practice for non-IT companies.

* Those considering the introduction of generative AI, or those who have already introduced it but are struggling to organize the internal information needed to support its use

4. Summary and Q&A
Speaker: Daisuke Sawamura, President and Representative Director, Stock, Inc.
Born on January 1, 1986, Daisuke Sawamura graduated from the School of Law at Waseda University and joined Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (NRI) as a management consultant. He subsequently founded LinkLive (now Stock, Inc.) and became its representative director.
Guided by its mission “to take the stress out of information sharing at non-IT companies worldwide,” Stock, Inc. officially launched its information-sharing tool, Stock, in 2018. In 2026, the company officially launched Narekan, an AI-powered knowledge management tool.
Taking the perspective of non-IT companies, Sawamura applies a stringent standard to user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design: “Could someone understand it in half a second, even with a fever of 40°C (104°F)?” He focuses on designing tools that people at non-IT companies can use intuitively from the outset and on helping these companies improve their knowledge management.
