Taking the First Step Toward Hospital Digital Transformation through Cloud Adoption

 Until now, hospitals in Japan have been slow to adopt cloud-based systems due to long-standing industry practices—often referred to as the “on-premise myth.” As a result, many hospitals have faced increasing costs, the burden of hardware management amid a shortage of IT personnel, and stagnation in overall digital transformation (DX) efforts.

Starting in 2025, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Digital Agency of Japan are moving forward with initiatives to transition medical systems to cloud-based infrastructure.

In this session, we will discuss how hospitals can take their first step toward DX with cloud-based systems as the foundation.

Speaker: Tomoki Tanimura, President & CEO, ispec Inc.

Mr. Tanimura graduated from Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies in 2020. During his university years, he conducted research in machine learning and gained experience as an AI and backend engineer at several IT companies. He later broadened his expertise to include product management, leading the development of multiple new products.

He joined ispec while pursuing graduate studies, became COO in 2022, and was appointed CEO in 2024.
Since 2022, he has led the company’s cloud-based medical system development business and has also served as the head of DX promotion for small and mid-sized hospitals.
Through hands-on efforts to improve hospital operations, he recognized the importance of enabling cloud service adoption as the starting point for DX, and now provides cloud and AI-based solutions to accelerate digital transformation in healthcare.
