WHATS Seminar Vol. 172 [Online] “Prospects of and Strategies in the Plastics Recycling Market – Resin –”

WHATS Seminar Vol. 172 [Online] “Prospects of and Strategies in the Plastics Recycling Market – Resin –” will be held online on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.

[Overview of the seminar]

Traditionally, most of the waste plastics in Japan have been recycled through thermal recycling (TR) where the waste plastics are effectively used as energy, and through cascade recycling where waste plastics do not recover to the original product quality but are recycled with the decline in quality, mainly for logistics materials, in material recycling (MR). However, in response to the recent trend toward resource circulation, major chemical manufacturers and others have been promoting the development and demonstration of chemical recycling (CR) technology, most of which are targeting commercialization around the period between 2025 and 2030.

In this seminar, future trends in the plastics recycling market will be discussed.

1. Trends by Plastics Recycling Technology

2. Trends by Recycled Plastics Resin (PP/PE, PET, PS, and Others)

3. Future Prospects of the Plastics Recycling Market
