[Overview of the seminar]

While Japan and other countries have recently announced specific goals for achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, the materials and raw materials industry, including the steel industry, which accounts for approximately 7% of global CO2 emissions, has been increasingly moving toward decarbonization. Furthermore, automobile manufacturers, who are the users of steel, have been increasingly focusing on the use of steel with a low carbon footprint, such as “green steel” and “low-carbon steel,” and efforts to be made to achieve decarbonization have been increasingly important.

In this seminar, the environment surrounding carbon neutrality in the steel industry and its prospects, including trends in the steel industry, what market players do, and future carbon neutrality strategies will be analyzed.
