Non-Thermal Sterilization Apparatus Market in Japan: Key Research Findings 2018
Yano Research Institute (the President, Takashi Mizukoshi) has conducted a survey on the domestic non-thermal sterilization apparatus market and has found out the market trends by product type, the trends of the leading market players, and the future outlook.
Sterilization is indispensable to reduce the risks of health hazard and product quality management. There are various methods of sterilization according to the expected effects and the characteristics of the objects to be sterilized. Other than the non-thermal sterilization handled in this research, there is sterilization by means of heat such as ultraviolet disinfection.
Against a backdrop of the need to take measures against such issues as infectious diseases, food poisoning, and for attempts of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) by food businesses, the non-thermal sterilization apparatus market has attained 44,500 million yen for FY2017, and is likely to achieve 46,200 million yen by FY2018.
There are various types of non-thermal sterilization apparatuses in the market from large ones used at factories and water and sewage facilities to middle-size or smaller ones for retailers and restaurant chains. Although large apparatuses have led the market with high unit prices, the current major demand is replacement, now that they are widely accepted at many factories and water/sewage facilities.
On the other hand, new demand for small and middle-size apparatuses is expected increase. Although small-to-midsize enterprises, facilities, and stores (i.e., accommodation/leisure facilities, restaurants, rental-good stores, and etc.) have intention of introducing non-thermal sterilization apparatuses aiming to enhance hygiene management and improve the quality of products and services, they have limited space to install such apparatuses. Also, if those sterilization apparatuses are needed at an accommodation facility, they need to be introduced at each room and therefore, required to be portable. That is why the demand for small and middle-size apparatuses has become larger.
In addition, those food related product and service providers like restaurants and food retailers are likely to press ahead with HACCP attempts, so that the demand for small and middle-size apparatuses is expected increase at such field as well.
