WHATS Seminar Vol. 101 [Online] Automotive Aftermarket and COVID-19 – Customer Needs that Decided the Outcome in the Market

WHATS Seminar Vol.101 [Online] “Automotive Aftermarket and COVID-19 – Customer Needs that Decided the Outcome in the Market” will be held online on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

[Overview of the seminar]

As long as new car sales is concerned, the annual number of vehicles sold ended up with as low as a little less than 4.6 million since the decrease in supply from factories delayed the delivery of vehicles to the new owners. On the other hand, the decreased supply of new cars has developed different market situations in different types of the automotive aftermarkets. The expanded demand for cars as a mode of transportation to avoide what is called “Three Cs” representing Closed spaces, Crowded places and Close contact setting eased the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on some sorts of aftermarkets, such as the secondhand car market and some types of car rental businesses, where there were already sufficient number of cars to sell or to rent.

In this seminar, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the automobile aftermarket, different level of impacts by type of markets and some other topics will be discussed, focusing on the markets of new cars, secondhand cars and car rental services.

  1. Overview of the automobile aftermarket
  2. Influence by the COVID-19 pandemic (New auto sales market, secondhand automobile market, and car rental market)
  3. Future prospects (New auto sales market, secondhand automobile market, and car rental market)
