Leading 30 Housing/Construction Material Makers Taking Actions for “Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities” and “Goal 12: “Responsible Consumption and Production”

Yano Research Institute (the President, Takashi Mizukoshi) has conducted a corporate questionnaire to leading domestic housing/construction material makers and found out the current conditions and future perspectives.

Summary of Research Findings

From November to December 2021, corporate questionnaires were mailed by post to major domestic housing makers, construction material makers, housing equipment makers and housing builders, and 33 companies responded. 
For the question asking their current commitments to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, 30 companies reported that they are working on the “Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities” and “Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production”, while 25 companies (83.3%) said they are making efforts for the “Goal 3: Good health and well-being”, “Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy”, and “Goal 13: Climate action”.  
The result reveals that the 30 companies have already set certain goals in place and are carrying out their business activities accordingly. Their business details have a high affinity for the Sustainable Development Goals.

Other 17 SDGs To Be Addressed

To the question asking the 30 companies (that have indicated their current initiatives regarding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals) about for which of the other 17 SDGs they are willing to address hereafter, the “Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth” got attention the most, chosen by 17 companies (56.7%). Subsequently, 15 companies (50%) said they are interested in the “Goal 5: Gender equality”, “Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities”, and “Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production”, and 14 companies (46.7%) have shown their willingness toward “Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy”.
