“Cool Japan Strategy” in the Spotlight: Essentials You Need to Know and the Latest in Marketing
In 2024, the Japanese government launched a renewed "Cool Japan Strategy" with ambitious goals: expanding the market size of Cool Japan-related industries from the current 30 trillion yen to 50 trillion yen by 2033, and increasing the global “Japan fan” index score by 10 points.
Triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, opportunities to watch Japanese anime and IP content—already popular overseas—rapidly increased, leading to further global growth. This has created more chances for people around the world to learn about Japan. Combined with factors such as restrained travel during the pandemic and a weak yen, interest in Japan has grown significantly.
In fact, the number of foreign visitors to Japan in 2024 surpassed that of 2019, reaching a record high of 36.869 million people. Their total travel spending also grew approximately 1.7 times, forming a large market exceeding 8 trillion yen.
In this session, Vpon will deliver a comprehensive presentation, covering a wide range of topics—from the “New Cool Japan Strategy” to actual promotional practices. We hold trademarks such as Tabi-Mae® (pre-trip) and Tabi-Naka® (mid-trip), and support inbound and overseas marketing for municipalities and private-sector clients across Japan, from data analysis to promotional execution.
We have represented private sector companies in discussions on Cool Japan at foreign embassies and organized one of Japan’s largest events in the field: the Cool Japan DX Summit (Cool Japan×Digital Transformation). We would be delighted if you could join us for this session and share your questions and feedback from various industry perspectives.
Topics to be covered:
- The Current Landscape Surrounding Cool Japan
- Key Challenges and Opportunities in the Cool Japan Strategy
- Utilizing Data-Driven Marketing for Global Expansion and Inbound Tourism
- The Need for Cross-Industry Collaboration in Promoting Cool Japan
Speaker:

In 2021, he joined an M&A platform company that was in its second startup phase, and, as a division manager, traveled across Japan to lead business development and alliance-building efforts. Currently, at Vpon JAPAN, Inc., he oversees marketing strategy, business planning, project management, and more.
