[Overview of the seminar]

The E-commerce market is acceleratingly growing in the post-COVID-19 period.

There have been many urgent challenges that fulfillment companies are facing, such as a decreasing workforce in logistics; diversified demands for delivery services including same-day delivery and customers’ selection of delivery service providers; needs of omnichannel operations such as in-store pickup and direct delivery; and complicated operations specific to E-commerce. E-commerce fulfillment companies are required by consignors and customers to rapidly respond to these issues.

Moreover, the whole industry still continues to face very severe conditions due to the “2024 problem” and soaring prices, and digitalization in the E-commerce fulfillment field is rapidly becoming a necessity.

On the other hand, in factory automation and warehouse digitalization, the focus is on robotization utilizing AGV and AMR, automated material handling such as AS/RS, and the introduction of systems such as WCS and WES. Therefore, building of overall solutions and development of human resources needed for the solution building do not seem to be prioritized.

In this seminar, what should be done now in the E-commerce fulfillment field based on the knowledge we have learned from our experience of introducing AGV earlier in Japan will be introduced.
