[Online Training Program] The Labor Market and “Spot Work” (On-Demand, Short-Term Employment in Japan)
[Online Training Program]
The Labor Market and “Spot Work” (On-Demand, Short-Term Employment in Japan)
Thursday, February 19, 2026
As labor shortages are expected to become increasingly severe in Japan, spot workers—people who work on a one-day or very short-term basis—are attracting attention as a new source of labor.
At present, the use of spot workers is concentrated mainly in industries such as food service, retail, and logistics. However, their application is expected to expand into other industries as well.
In this training program, participants will learn about the future potential of spot workers and practical ways to utilize them in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), through case studies and hands-on examples.
Note: “Spot work” in Japan refers to short, single-day or very short-term jobs, often matched through smartphone apps.
