Auscultation DX!? A Mouse-Sized Phonocardiogram Device and the Future of “Cardio-EGG”

While new catheter-based treatments and pharmaceuticals continue to advance year after year, the practice of auscultation—listening to heart sounds to identify potential heart disease—has seen little major change for nearly 200 years.
Meanwhile, Japan is expected to face a so-called “heart failure pandemic” due to its super-aging population, with a rapid increase in heart failure patients projected to place a significant burden on healthcare and society.
To ensure that heart diseases are diagnosed and treated at an appropriate timing, it is essential to move away from a situation in which only highly experienced physicians can make accurate assessments. Instead, accessible and minimally invasive diagnostic tools are required.
In this seminar, we will discuss the possibilities that arise from digitizing heart sounds.

Speaker: Ms. Yui Ueda, Executive Officer, AMI Inc.
Graduated from Kyoto University School of Medicine in 2011. After building her career as a pediatrician—particularly in neonatal care and pediatric cardiology—she became involved in research on medical applications of AI. Through this work, she encountered AMI’s devices and joined AMI Inc. in 2025 as an Executive Officer.
