Gig Work

Research Target:

Corporate Recruiters

Research Content:

As enterprises struggle to secure human resources against the backdrop of declining working population, utilization of gig workers is garnering attention. Gig worker recruitment is a unique market consisting of gig worker apps (“sukimabaito” apps) and part-time worker placement services like “Hibi Shokai”, showing characteristics quite different from the recruitment of part-time workers seeking for long-term contracts. However, actual status of the workstyle and recruitment of gig workers is still relatively unknown. To delve into the current status of the market, an online survey was conducted with the HR of companies hiring gig workers.

The online survey was designed to find out various aspects, including the types of jobs gig workers are assigned and the reasons for hiring gig workers for those jobs, the awareness/use status/satisfaction level of gig work apps, the average days for ‘matching’ with gig workers, the percentage of gig work app fees against part-time staffing costs, and the key aspect when choosing these apps. Based on these results, we also estimated the market size of “companies that plan to use, intend to use, or are interested in using” gig worker apps in the future, and analyzed the differences in trends between users and non-users of such apps.

Excel Data Description:

This online survey was conducted with recruiters of general companies or organizations who have been involved in recruiting regular/full-time, part-time, dispatched, temporary, or contract-based workers. (1,000 samples )
