Automotive Carbon Neutral Fuels

Research Target:

Automakers, Carbon Neutral Fuel Manufacturers

Research Content:

In 2024, there have been a series of reevaluations of the battery electric vehicle (BEV) target and the strategy by automakers, due to lower demand and profitability. Some automakers have even closed factories or reduced personnel. In the United States, the election of Donald Trump of the Republican Party as the next president in the November 5 election is likely to change the policy direction for EVs and for climate change. At COP29, which began on November 11, countries failed to agree on the phasing out or banning new coal power generation and contributing to climate finance, and the conference ended with no direction in sight.
Bioethanol and biodiesel, which are seen as a realistic way to decarbonize vehicles, are gaining traction, especially in emerging markets: Brazil has mandated E30, India is introducing E20 nationwide by 2025, and Indonesia is looking to mandate B40. By increasing the share of biofuels in blended fuels, countries are seeking to expand the production and consumption of biofuels. Even in developed countries, the lifting of the summer sales ban on E15 is spreading in the United States, while Japan has begun the process of introducing E10 by 2030. The ultimate carbon-neutral fuel, "e-fuel", is also being demonstrated in various areas, and is expected to be blended with gasoline by the 2030s.
This report visualizes the adoption status of bioethanol, biodiesel, e-fuel, biogas, FFV in each region and has forecast the market size taking into account the preferential policies, regulations, costs, and strategies of automakers and fuel companies.
