Many municipalities in Japan are currently working on smart cities. One of the reasons for this is the diversification of problems faced by municipalities. There is an increasing need for comprehensive solutions to various problems, rather than dealing with them individually, and the realization of smart cities is an effective way to achieve this. Various examples of smart city projects have already been created by municipalities that have made advanced efforts. By referring to these examples, the barriers to participation in smart city projects are being lowered. In this research, we have interviewed local governments that are involved in smart city projects and vendors providing services to clarify the areas of focus and the direction of the projects. The purpose of this research is to contribute to the marketing activities of companies and individuals involved in the smart city market in Japan.
