Research Target:

consumers in ASEAN

Research Content:

In the ASEAN market, where demand for four-wheel drive vehicles is growing, sales by Chinese automakers are increasing, especially of those non-ICE battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
This has reduced the presence of Japanese automakers, which used to have a superior competitive advantage in the ASEAN region. For Japanese automakers to revive, they need to develop BEVs that can be launched after BEVs, in addition to ICE- or hybrid vehicles that used to enjoy superiority.
As decarbonization is underway in the automotive industry and the development of vehicle designs and technologies suitable for each region is essential, it is imperative for the Japanese automotive industry to make clear the consumer needs for BEVs in the ASEAN market where demand is expected to continue growing.
