Viewing from composition ratio by item, leukocyte cell removal filters account highest; while the market transition for 7 items in general stays sluggish, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy hemofilters and abdominal dropsy filters are increasing.
Trend of Patient Increase Leads to Expansion of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy Hemofilter Market
Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is a type of extracorporeal blood purification therapy, adopted for patients of severe renal failure, mainly acute kidney injury. By purifying blood through Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy hemofilter using extracorporeal circulation, it works as a kidney of acute kidney injury patient to improve their condition. Diseases suited for the therapy include acute renal kidney injury, severe acute pancreatitis, fulminant hepatitis, post-operative hepatic failure, and acute hepatic failure.
Membrane materials used in hemofilter of Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy are PAN (polyacrylonitrile), PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate), PS (polysulfone), PES (polyethersulfone), and CTA (cellulose triacetate). While the market growth by each item is estimated to level off from 2021 on, due to a rise of drug treatments for ulcerative colitis, the disease primarily treated by leukocyte cell removal filters that accounts for the highest percentage in composition ratio by item, the domestic market of apheresis equipment is projected to attain 16,670 million yen by 2022, dropping 4.1% from 2019.
