Research Purpose:

• Analyzing “the state of retirement and its reasons of existing golfers, and their intentions to restart playing golf in the future” in the period of COVID-19 (this means January 2020 to February 2021 in this research)
• Extracting the reasons to start playing golf and the degree of satisfaction at the present time, as well as their intentions to continue playing golf in the future and the issues for continuation, of “new golfers (newly entered market players)” who started playing golf during the period of COVID-19
• Extracting the reasons to restart playing golf and the degree of satisfaction at the present time, as well as their intentions to continue playing golf in the future and the issues for continuation, of “returned golfers (re-entered market players)” who restarted playing golf during the period of COVID-19

Research Methodology: Online monitoring survey of consumers

Research Period: December 2020 to March 2021

Research Target:

• 500 former (retired) golfers

[Definition] Those who had been playing golf regularly before the period of COVID-19 (until January 2020) but had not been playing golf during the period of COVID-19

• 200 new golfers

[Definition] Those who had not been playing golf before the period of COVID-19 but started playing golf during the period of COVID-19

• 300 returned golfers

[Definition] Those who had not been playing golf before the period of COVID-19 but restarted playing golf during the period of COVID-19. *They played golf before, so it is not the totally first time for them to play golf (Those who had not played golf for more than a year but restarted playing golf during the period of COVID-19).
